"Blackland Prairie Farmstead" Art Quilt with Dr Susan Kruszynski - Sat, April 27th, 9:30am-4pm

Learn the art of collage landscaping with a photo fabric picture inserted. This beautiful quilt was created especially for this class and reflects the history and heritage of Plano, Texas with a depiction of our own Heritage Farmstead Museum and beauty of our native sunflowers. You will amaze yourself at how easy it is to create this scene. Prepare to have fun, and it IS so much easier than it looks!

Included in the class is a kit with ALL fabrics and an art canvas included - you just supply the sewing machine and thread!

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: You need to be able to sew a straight stitch on your machine

● Thread (brand and type is your choice. The shop carries Glide if you need to purchase any of the colors)
o Icy Blue (e.g. C&C 4310)
o Light Ecru (e.g. C&C 8030)
o Dark Tan, Smoky, or invisible thread (e.g. Aurifil 2370)
o Goldenrod (e.g. C&C 7540)
o Dark Linen Green/Sageish (e.g. C&C 8420)
o Field Green (e.g. C&C 6670)
o Dark Forest (e.g. C&C 6780)
o Violet (e.g. Gutermann 725)
o Lavender (e.g. Gutermann 730)
o White, Gray or Tan bobbin thread
o Green bobbin thread

● Sewing Machine ready to sew (Open Toe foot recommended)
● Large glue stick (e.g., Elmer's Craft Bond-Extra Strength)
● Tacky or Elmer's glue
● Scissors - small and sharp for fussy cutting
● Pencil
● Erasable marker (e.g., Pilot Ball Frixion) (Optional)
● 28 mm Rotary Cutter (Optional)
● Cutting mat (Optional - rulers and mats available to share)
● Sewing Gloves (Optional)
● Small Iron & board (Optional - Ironing boards and Irons available to share)
● Teflon Ironing Sheet (Optional - Ironing sheets provided on shop ironing boards)
● Your regular sewing supplies (seam ripper, stiletto, etc)
Instructor: Dr. Susan Kruszynski
Instructor Bio: Dr. Susan Kruszynski lives in Muskegon, Michigan, and is an award-winning art quilt designer, teacher, author, and gallery artist. Feeding her artistic nature, Susan, at age 8, started experimenting with fabrics to produce colorful creations. She began landscape fiber art design with collage art quilts in 2014. A native of Michigan, her works, that range in sizes from 3"x5" to 40"x60", are often inspired by the trees and woodlands along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Susan currently divides her time between creating original collaged art quilt designs, teaching art quilting, marketing this fiber art in shows and galleries, running her Quilting Fabrics in Time business, and only just recently retired as a literacy specialist from Muskegon Community College. Susan uses her 40+ years of K-College level teaching experiences and a PhD in Education to teach this art through in-class experiences in and around the state of Michigan, through on-line instruction, and with art quilt books from Fox-Chapel Publishing.
