2023 - 06/17 - Oklahoma Shuffle Quilt with Cathy Miller - Saturday 6/17 10am-3pm

Come join us for the Oklahoma Shuffle quilt class!  This is a very easy and versatile quilt. It is great for a quick gift. It's a perfect "man" quilt or can easily be converted to a baby quilt.  It is also perfect for themed fabrics too like college, Christmas or Halloween.  A pattern diagram will be handed out during class.

We will be cutting the quilt out with Cathy's custom dies on the AccuQuilt Studio during class. You will also receive a diagram on how to cut this quilt out by hand so you can make it again! Approximate finished size 55" x 84" but there are various options on finishing that we will discuss in class.

A little history on the quilt. This quilt was designed by a school teacher in Oklahoma and was passed down to Sally Bridges in Prosper. She made it for many people in Prosper and the pattern was passed to different people in the town. When Cathy decided to make a quilt for her daughter for college graduation, Sally recommended this one and the rest is history. Cathy has re-written the pattern so, as she says, her brain can understand it better along with diagrams. We think you will want to use this quilt as your GO-TO quilt for fast, quick gifts. Hope you enjoy.

Preparation: Please IRON and starch all of your fabrics. Cut the fold off of each of the twelve pieces so you have twenty-four pieces (12" x 22"). Make two piles that have identical pieces in them. Each pile should have twelve 12" x 22" pieces in it. Do not remove selvages. You can bring to class over a hanger to keep them from having to be re-ironed in class. If you don't get this done, you can do it in class.

Cathy has been teaching since February 2016. Her love of quilting began in 2014. She had recently retired and was driven by the desire to make her daughter a quilt for college graduation and the fear of not having anything to do after retirement. It snowballed from there. She bought her first machine in 2002 but was never able to use it due to work. After her kids were grown, she bought an updated machine in 2014 and took every class available to her. She is also an avid YouTube-er and reader and loves learning new things and has now made well over 150 quilts. She has since converted two rooms in her home to sewing rooms, has a stash that will rival any quilt store, strives to sew every day and loves everything about quilting. She thoroughly enjoys teaching and says she always learns something from her students.
