About Hoffman California Fabrics
Founded in 1924 by Rube Hoffman, Hoffman California Fabrics began with a commitment to providing customers with the highest quality fabrics available. As the business grew, Rube was able to purchase undyed fabric to print with his own unique designs. In the 1950’s Rube’s sons, Philip and Walter, joined the company bringing with them a love of surfing and inspiring beach, underwater and botanical elements which quilters have come to look for in Hoffman Batiks. The resurgence of interest in quilting in the 1970’s offered the opportunity to focus on creating fabrics for quilting. Hoffman now focuses on screen printing and hand painted Batik fabrics for quilters and home sewers.
Why Fabric Fanatics loves Hoffman
Hoffman Batik fabrics are true quilting treasures. The high levels of color saturation used in Hoffman fabrics guarantees that even pale hues and pastels have an intensity that demands attention. This depth of color ensures that every intricate patchwork detail is vibrant and pronounced. Hoffman’s signature designs, incorporating seaside beauty such as the rosy hues of sunset, blues and greens of deep ocean waters, brown and cream shades of wet sand, or delicate botanical motifs, combine with the softest and most durable 100% cotton to make Hoffman fabrics ideal for creating unique apparel and accessory items as well as quilts.
